is the list of superstitions about birds. However, I believe that there
are many more.
1* A swallow is a good bird and Europeans believe that the house with a nest of a swallow on its roof, is lucky house.
2* First time in the year when you see a stork means good health for those who have seen the stork.
3* If a stork stands or sits on the roof of some house, it is a sign of peace and love in the house.
4* It is a good sign when the eagle is flying above the house.
5* Magpie brings visitors. The one who have heard the magpie will have guests in the house, according to the superstition of Europeans.
6* It is a good sign to hear a daw before lunch, but not a good sign to hear it after lunch. Serbians believe that it is not good to hear cuckoo bird before breakfast.
7* Cuckoo bird takes negative conotations because of Emperor Lazar and its empire. It is the saddiest bird for Serbians.
8* Owl never makes good sign. Its sound is very hard and trenchant. The house where owl stops and starts hucing is the one where someone will die. If it is heard near the house, someone soon will get sick. If you hear the owl in the night in a field or in forest, it is predicted that future brings bad time.
9* It is not a good sign when raven sings over the house, because he predicts death, too. If you hear a raven outside the house, it is believed that some accident will happen soon.
10* If someone see completely white bird, it is predicted that he will hear good news soon or some person close to him will die soon.
